Simulation and data management tools will be used to help achieve a carbon-neutral world.
Dassault Systèmes, McPhy Energy and Visiativ have announced a new collaborative partnership to help drive the implementation of low-carbon hydrogen as the world continues gradually phasing out traditional fossil fuels.
McPhy Energy is a company that specializes in the development and production of hydrogen storage solutions. Its solid-state hydrogen technologies (including electrolyzers and hydrogen refueling stations) are set to take a leading role in the energy markets as many countries continue pursuing plans to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
The company’s hydrogen technologies can be used as a valuable tool to decarbonize the industrial sector. This includes everything from steel production to clean fuel for hydrogen-based vehicles, energy storage, and as an alternative in existing natural gas infrastructure.
By utilizing Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, McPhy aims to gather vital knowledge about the standardization of processes, data centralization, in-depth simulation experience and project management. The platform will also allow multinational teams located in France, Germany and Italy to work together in a more efficient cloud-based design environment.
“As the world shifts away from the use of fossil fuels, our 3DEXPERIENCE platform offers new technological approaches to innovation across all phases of the life cycle, for equipment and products that contribute to a more sustainable economy,” said Philippe Bartissol, vice president, Industrial Equipment Industry, Dassault Systèmes. “Game-changers like McPhy can collaborate, innovate and manage the entire product life cycle in one virtual twin experience.”
The third company taking part in this collaborative endeavor is Visiativ, a digital transformation partner of Dassault Systèmes. It will employ its expertise and support services to help centralize data and project management while keeping a finger on the pulse of the constantly changing consumer needs in this vital sector.
“The success of this partnership is thanks to the collaboration, mutual trust, and commitment of McPhy, Dassault Systèmes and Visiativ,” said Laurent Fiard, CEO, Visiativ. “We are delighted to support McPhy in this global project in line with their innovation transformation strategy. It is a perfect example of how the hydrogen industry is positioned for success in reaching carbon neutrality by 2050 and we are proud to partner with McPhy and the hydrogen industry on this journey.”
The hope is that through the mutual support of these three companies and their solutions, McPhy can smoothly move forward with the scaling up of its business, in particular the implementation of its new gigafactory in France in 2024.
“A unified architecture across all our sites (France, Italy and Germany) is a key step in McPhy’s industrial scale-up, with the aim of optimizing collaborative processes across our European technology teams. We will also reduce our time-to-market in product development and project engineering for our clients, in particular by modeling the manufacturing process before our products are launched on the market,” said Benoît Barrière, chief technology officer of McPhy.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is used to provide businesses and individuals with scientifically accurate simulation tools that can be used to test and develop new innovations before they are rolled out into the world. If all goes according to plan, the platform can help usher in McPhy’s new hydrogen-based technologies, which in turn could help accelerate our progress toward a post-fossil fuel world.
